What Paver Sealer Actually Does
Paver sealer creates a protective layer that can enhance appearance, help stabilize joint sand and make the surface easier to maintain. It does not make pavers maintenance-free or correct underlying installation and drainage problems.
Sealing also cannot permanently stop every weed, ant, stain or form of movement. Organic material can collect on top of sealed pavers, and weeds may grow in that material even when the joints beneath were properly treated.

Why Cleaning and Drying Matter Before Sealing
Sealer should never be used to cover dirt, algae or uneven discoloration. Anything left on the surface can become more noticeable once the pavers are sealed.
Moisture is equally important. Applying sealer while pavers or joints are still holding too much moisture can contribute to a cloudy, milky or blotchy appearance. Florida’s humidity and unpredictable rain make weather monitoring an important part of scheduling.

Joint Sand and Sealer Serve Different Purposes
Joint sand fills the spaces between individual pavers. Sealer may help stabilize properly installed sand, but it cannot replace missing sand or repair joints that were not prepared correctly.
After cleaning, the joints should be evaluated and new sand added when the agreed scope requires it. Sand must be installed at an appropriate level and cleared from the face of the pavers before sealer is applied.
